Your North East Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 39)
REAL WEDDING We had a vintage Porsche 356 for our transport, which is owned by Ben’s father. We provided buses to take guests from the church to marquee. 39 We had a two-tier naked cake, which was lemon drizzle and Victoria sponge flavour – all made by my aunty. We had a balloon arch and suspended balloons throughout the marquee, supplied by Balloon-ilicious. We had rustic hay bales for seating, firepits for the evening and milk church floral displays by the marquee entrance. The wedding breakfast included a Brazilian barbeque-theme main course as we didn’t want a traditional roast for an August wedding. Scream For Pizza provided the evening catering – we’d highly recommend them. When I saw my dad for the first time and saw his reaction, it all became very real, and I had to fight to hold back the tears. After the band finished playing, the party continued well into the early morning with our close friends and family. We sat by the firepit and listened to all of our favourite songs. The day before the wedding, all of our wedding party arrived to help set-up the marquee and make sure everything was perfect, it felt so much more personal to both of us on our special day. We continued the celebrations the day after our wedding, using the marquee for another party with all our family and friends which involved a huge game of rounders. It was lovely to get to chat with all the people that we didn’t get the opportunity to spend time with on the day.
