Your North East Wedding - Mar/Apr 2020 (Issue 37)

I wore Rachel Simpson shoes that were extremely comfortable and added metallic rosebuds for a special touch that matched the dress perfectly. The groomsmen wore the same suit but with a darker blue tie and pocket square.  For the cake, Dave picked a Harry Potter design, which was fun but still very elegant with grey, white and gold metallic foil. We had three flavours all together including passionfruit, lemon and raspberry and white chocolate – it was not only impressive to look at but tasted delicious too!  In order to create a loose bouquet, I chose garden roses, hydrangea and peonies with lots of foliage and herbs for texture and scent. As we’d fallen in love with Italy, the big plan was to get married there but after lots of deliberation, we agreed it wouldn’t be realistic for some of our guests to travel. We still loved the idea of a Mediterranean-style wedding and discovered Le Petit Château, which is a hidden gem in the heart of Northumberland.  I made a simple design on Kraft card for our place names with hand-written calligraphy dressed with a fresh sprig of rosemary. The tables were all named after Italian destinations we’ve visited together with a vintage postcard on mini-easels. For centrepieces we wanted to bring the outdoors inside! Therefore Dave made artificial blossom trees that each stood as a feature on the tables during the day and were then used to decorate the floor space for the evening reception.  38
