According to Catherine, “I always looked forward to seeing Dave and loved his cheeky charm and sense of humour. I remember he had to work away for a few months – I missed him so much, which made me realise it was more than just a friendship.” As soon as they met Dave knew Catherine was the one. So, one day in Rome when the sun was setting, Dave asked Catherine to pose for a photo, then dropped to his knee and popped the question. Catherine says: “He’d already asked my dad for my hand in marriage. It then made sense as to why he’d seemed so quiet and anxious during the flight there – he had the ring in his pocket the whole time.
