Your North East Wedding - November/December 2019 (Issue 35)
We wanted our children to be a part of our day, so my six-year-old daughter was a flowergirl, and my four-year-old son was a pageboy. His job was to keep the rings safe in a little ring security briefcase – he looked so cool in his sunnies! My 16-year-old daughter, Chloe, looked beautiful in her blush maxi bridesmaid dress with beading from Little Mistress at House of Fraser. I actually bought it on impulse while I was out shopping one day, so it’s lucky she liked it when she tried it on! My make-up artist came highly recommended, and I loved how she made me look like me – just a better version! My hairdresser was also fantastic, plus she doesn’t charge crazy prices! We were impressed with the grounds of Backworth Hall, as they look wonderful in the summer. There are no wedding packages or minimum spend limits in place, and we loved that you have access to the hall the day before to set up. I bought the first dress I tried on – in the first shop I visited! My mother-in-law picked it out. I didn’t like it on the hanger, but as soon I stepped into it, I felt like a bride. It was an A-line style, which was flattering, and I loved the detail around the waist. I didn’t see Lee’s suit until the wedding – and I was impressed with his choice! Lee, his best man and usher all wore grey three-piece suits from Slater Menswear, with Lee choosing an ivory tie to stand out. 46
