Consider an al fresco garden service, remembering to bring the outdoors in when it comes to your venue styling. “A combination of beautiful blooms and lush greenery is very much the way to go when dressing your venue,” suggests Ruth Wake from Newcastle’s The Finishing Touch Company (thefinishingtouchcompany.co.uk ). “English country garden weddings are all about taking inspiration from nature and making the most of the venue. A theme that never seems to date, the outdoor atmosphere only adds to the occasion, so choose classic English blooms to tie in with the theme, creating hand-tied bouquets of peonies, sweet peas, hydrangeas and roses. Table centrepieces come to life with a selection of vintage-inspired details, including enamel jugs, wooden crates and jam jars filled with complementary blooms. Meanwhile, bunting draped inside a venue, marquee or around the grounds is a wonderful way to add pops of pastel colours to keys areas. Use old stepladders decorated with vintage photo frames to create a perfect table plan, and consider mini pots of homemade jams or chutneys for inexpensive favours. And don’t forget about the importance of lighting, whether it be strands of twinkling fairylights hung around trees or hundreds of tea lights for table settings and walkways.” THE GARDEN WEDDING dazmack.co.uk thefinishingtouchcompany.co.uk Choosing to get hitched in an English Heritage venue or stately home? Dressing your venue may have a few rules to follow. “From a long, sweeping driveway to ornate doorways and grand staircases, a stately home is a beautiful setting to marry in,” says Erica Lawrence from Middlesbrough’s Ivy & Indigo Events (facebook.com/Ivy-Indigo-Events-468732113639529 ). “Before you start planning your decorations, have a chat with your venue co-ordinator to make sure they have no rules in place that may prevent you hanging anything on their walls. Once that box is ticked, you really can’t go wrong with candlelight and flowers for an already perfect backdrop, opting for a classic look to complement the history of the building. Pink is one of the easiest and prettiest wedding colours to work with, with roses, peonies and lots of foliage and greenery. Tall centrepieces make a grand statement, while shorter ones give a more intimate feel – the choice is yours! Golden easels and mirrors are readily available and always add that touch of class, while glass trio vases with tall church candles provide an elegant look.” THE STATELY HOME WEDDING WHERE CAN I WED IN A STATELY HOME?
