Your North East Wedding - Mar/Apr 2019 (Issue 31)

I wasn’t sure how it would look when I decided to dress my bridesmaids in different-style gowns. However, they looked beautiful and received lots of compliments. It was hugely important for me and Daniel to involve our son and daughter in our big day, so having them as a pageboy and flowergirl seemed the perfect fit. Newton Hall is magical and romantic, and we loved the fact that we got this big house all to ourselves! After looking around and sampling the food and drink, we knew it was the venue for us. I tried on around 20 wedding dresses before I found the one. I knew it was perfect when I walked out of the changing room and my mum, gran and maid of honour started crying! K imberley met Daniel on a night out in their hometown of Prudhoe. “I was delighted when he asked me out,” says the bride. “Our first date was a lovely meal in Newcastle – the food was delicious, and the conversation flowed all night long.” The couple had been together for 10 years when Daniel popped the question. “Daniel told me we were going on a surprise trip but refused to tell me the destination,” reveals Kimberley. “I didn’t know until we got to the airport that he was taking me to Venice, somewhere I’d wanted to visit for years. There, on a bridge in the centre of the city, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He even had a padlock made with our names on it to lock on to the bridge!” It took the couple 15 months to plan their wedding, doing an equal share of the organising. Here Kimberley tells us more about their big day… KIMBERLEY’S TOP TIP! “Don’t get carried away with your guest list. We only invited close family and friends, which worked perfectly, as there were no groups of people standing around separately.” 42
