Your Midlands Wedding - April/May 2025 (Issue 97)

We decided to hold our ceremony at the Old Music Hall in Shrewsbury, also known as the Shrewsbury Museum. To add a vintage touch, a classic bus transported guests from the castle to the ceremony and back. We wanted to marry during the summer months and envisioned an intimate, family-only ceremony, followed by a laid-back garden party. A relaxed atmosphere with plentiful food and drinks was key, and we also wanted the day to reflect our personalities. Our ceremony and lunch were for 25 people, so we didn’t want a table plan. The meadow arrangements used in the ceremony at Shrewsbury Museum were brought back to the castle and used as table arrangements, and then again in the gardens afterwards. I created all the stationery for the day from invitations to signage and the menus, which doubled as place names. The design was simple; it included a botanical monogram as well as serif and calligraphy-style fonts. The flowers were all grown locally, which I loved. Roses, dahlias, cosmos, hydrangea, anemones, stocks and delphiniums all featured. 38
