The table names were photos of us at different holiday destinations placed in gold frames. My mother-in-law made the cake. It was a threetier semi-naked design with chocolate on the bottom, lemon in the middle and j am sponge on the top. I made the centrepieces which were probably our biggest project. I used three parts of an embroidery hoop and stuck them together to make a sphere shape. I wrapped led lights around the sphere and stuck them to some floral foam. I made the stands by screwing cake boards into broomsticks and spraying them gold. Our flowers were done by The Flower Gallery in Oswestry. We went for a loose-style teardrop bouquet with peach and white roses, lavender, greenery, gypsophila and freesias. It was beautiful! As soon as we saw Barnutopia, we just knew it was perfect for us. It’s in the countryside with beautiful views, lots of space and accommodation so our guests could stay over. We booked a weekend date and had the venue from Friday to Sunday, and I really liked that we could put our own stamp on the space. I’m an artistic person and loved the DIY wedding option, but the fact Barnutopia had the main things we needed, such as tables, covers, fairylights and cutlery was a big help. The owner, Katrina, and her family were all really helpful and friendly too, so it was an easy choice for us. For our table plan, I used an old ladder from my grandad, painted it and added gin bottles. I printed the names and tea-stained them to look rustic and tied them with string. The bottles were also filled with gypsophila from The Flower Gallery. 38
