Your West Midlands Wedding- Page number 30 - June/July 2021 (Issue 74)
The Upper House is a beautiful countrysi de setting with gardens, plenty of accommodation and rooms on o ne floor so I didn’t have to worry about walking down the stairs in he els! It also had a fantastic reputation for weddings and food, which f or us was incredibly important. The team were amazing, espec ially Sam and Ellie, who took care of all the little details. The flowers tied in with our theme. After the ceremony, we placed my bouquet from Blossoms Florist on the cake table and the flowergirl’s bouquet with the postbox and guest book. Our cake was white chocolate and raspberry, salted caramel, black forest and lemon flavoured. We didn’t want too much decoration, so we opened for a burgundy ribbon and silver baubles on the side. Unfortunately, the lady who was due to make our cake was unable due to personal reasons, however, Sarah from Eat My Muffin Bakery kindly stepped in and fulfilled our order. Ellie at The Upper House was also great, we dropped everything off on the Friday, and she did an amazing job of getting everything how I wanted it. We both love Christmas, so we decided to theme our wedding around the season. The Upper House had an amazing tree in the entrance hall, which we knew would look stunning in pictures. We used a company called Elegant Affair run by a lovely lady called Laura who helped us decorate the venue. James and I love gin, so we added lights to empty gin bottles that we had collected over time and added Christmas photo booth props and a quiz for guests. My mum and I made the centrepieces and place cards for the tables. We used large fishbowls and filled them with lights, sparkly baubles and pinecones. We bought some green wreath place cards and re-did them using burgundy ribbon to tie in with the theme. The catering was done by the venue, and we were able to give our guests a choice for the wedding breakfast. In the evening, we provided a buffet and had an ice cream van, after all, who doesn’t love ice cream, even in the winter? 30
