Your West Midlands Wedding- February / March 2021 (Issue 72)
FLOWERS 49 INSPIRATION MEET CATERER, LIBBI COLDICOTT FROM CRANBERRY & THYME 07860 497 509 | www.cranberryandthyme.com It can be a tough decision to make – do you go with a small wedding or hold out for a bigger celebration? This is your chance to get your closest friends and family together to celebrate your nuptials, with the added bonus that you actually get the chance to spend time with each of them. Many of the brides and grooms I have catered for throughout 2020 have told me that even though it wasn’t the wedding they had planned, they wouldn’t have had it any other way. Grazing tables are a great way of catering for a smaller wedding. This can be booked or changed with only a week’s notice. We have catered in a tipi, the foyer of a church, in homes and with a smaller guest list, you can keep things cosy. To keep you and your loved ones safe, most suppliers will have several COVID-19 friendly options for you to choose from. For example, we can provide one grazing table for everyone to select from or a platter for each socially- distanced table if your nearest and dearest are seated in bubbles. We can also provide an individual set of disposable bamboo tongs for each guest to reduce the sharing of equipment. Your caterer should also be able to cater for many dietary requirements and even provide individual platters for anyone who needs it. The best advice I can give to couples is not to start married life with debt. A good way to keep costs low is to hold a smaller event then a party when it’s safe to do so. MEET CAKE EXPERT, JESS HICKLIN FROM TILLY FLO’S CAKES 07411 296 019 | www.facebook.com/tilly-flos-cakes-235268523158967 Even though your guest list may be small, you can still have your dream wedding cake. Dummy tiers made from polystyrene allow you to create the wow factor without an abundance of leftovers. Not all bakes need to touch the ceiling to create an impact. Some of my favourite creations are those which are small but mighty. Create an impact with a smaller, tall design adorned with flowers and sweet treats. A worded topper is an ideal way to personalise your showstopper and make it bespoke to you and your situation. From a simple ‘Mr & Mrs’ to a witty ‘Finally’ topper will make your creation stand out. I always ask my clients to create a moodboard or send over pictures they have seen to give me the best idea of their dream cake. Think colours, textures, height, tiers and flowers when looking at designs. If the date of your wedding has suddenly changed or it’s more last-minute than expected, always stay in touch with your chosen supplier to see what flexibility they have. More often than not, they will accommodate you as best as they can, even if it means tweaking your design. Not everyone wants a wedding cake, so why not choose sweet treats instead? Biscuits, doughnuts, macarons, cupcakes and cakesicles are a great way to treat your loved ones. There’s also the added bonus that they’re portable, ideal at a time when limiting contact is so important. www.dear estlove.co.uk and www.ruby bellee vents.co.uk www.dear estlove.co.uk and www.ruby bellee vents.co.uk www.davi dwadleyphotography.co.uk
