Your West Midlands Wedding- August/September 2020 (Issue 69)

Our favours were mini-shots from one of our favourite pubs in our home town. We attached labels quoting ‘we tied the knot so take a shot’. I thought these were cute and something that our guests could use rather than storing away. For the children, I bought them personalised wedding-themed colouring books to keep them entertained during dinner. Ollie has bad hay fever, so we didn’t want to have lots of flowers and instead opted for foliage. We chose small white blooms, gypsophila, lavender and thistles. We loved the look of Pendrell Hall. We’re massive National Trust fans, so the old- style stately home was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to have a small celebration, and the cosy interior was perfect. The décor was stunning, and there was also a bridal suite and groom’s room for us to get ready in. For our centrepieces, we chose blossom trees with fairy lights entwined into the branches. We placed log slices underneath them that were covered in moss to tie in with our countryside theme. I got the idea for our place names from one of the many weddings fairs we attended. I made cards and slotted them into champagne corks. I thought this was really quirky and gave us something to do in the year leading up to the wedding. We wanted the cake to fit in with our theme, so we asked Karen’s Creative Cupcakes to make us a bake that resembled a tree stump. We also had salted caramel, lemon and vanilla cupcakes, which everyone loved. 42
