REAL WEDDINGS 37 and surprisingly only needed a few alterations to make it fit perfectly. I wanted something elegant and sleek but with an edge and the beaded crossover back certainly had that! The dress was a crepe ivory floor-length gown with a deep V-neck. I matched this with brushed rose gold block heels to complement my rose gold necklace, engagement and wedding rings. I have short hair so I added some textured curls to give that soft romantic feel and popped in an embellished hair slide on one side.” The fathers-of-the-brides wore the same navy blue suit from Moss Bros with a sage-green skinny tie and white shirt, again fitting into the natural/simple green theme – they certainly looked the part! TIME TO CELEBRATE To entertain guests Kerry and Emily had a candy bar, Instax polaroid camera and guestbook, firepits and marshmallow and sparklers – which made for a fantastic group photograph on the evening! For music, the couple created their own playlist a real eclectic mix of ’80s/’90s classics, wedding cheese and current chart hits. “Our friend and singer/songwriter Jess Gardham performed for an hour-and-a-half just before our first dance. As we know Jess personally it made it extra special and brought back many memories of going to see her gigging in York,” they add. “She was a definite hit and created a chilled but upbeat-vibe as our evening guests arrived. She sang songs which we both chose including some Jess Gardham originals to the classic track Pony by Ginuwine.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “The best way to describe how we felt on our wedding day is ‘overwhelmed’ (but in a good way),” says Kerry. “It’s amazing to look around to see your family and friends knowing they are all there to support and celebrate you as a couple; it makes you feel very loved and lucky!” Getting ready was really fun for both brides, “We had the whole family around, we all had such a laugh amongst the hustle and bustle of make-up, hair and lacing corsets. The morning went so quick!” Seeing each other for the first time all dressed up at the end of the aisle will be a moment they never forget, “We managed to keep our dresses a secret right up until the day!” “Emily’s father’s phone went off during the ceremony. The registrar had it in her briefcase for safe keeping during the I dos but he forgot to turn it off beforehand!” laughs Kerry. “It continued to ring whilst we all looked around to see who the culprit was, little did we know it was one of the fathers-of-the-bride!” Both dads, Mike and David, and Emily’s sister, Sarah, gave a speech and all three were fantastic and very emotional. “Sarah made a poem which rhymed impeccably including jokes and anecdotes about Emily’s childhood and our journey together,” shares Kerry. “She even wore a ‘special’ T-shirt for the performance! “Our photographer Sam, of Rose and Rainbow Photography, was amazing from start to finish. She is so fun to be around and created such a happy relaxed environment. She was very diligent; sometimes you hardly knew she was there which really shows through in the photographs; she captured those candid moments beautifully.”
