Your West Midlands Wedding- April/May 2020 (Issue 67)

65 PHOTOGRAPHY DAVE PERRY PHOTOGRAPHY Dave Perry says... What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?  I think if I’m honest, I just love people. So seeing so many people in one place is the best for me it’s like attending a party albeit in a professional capacity but I still like to have a lot of fun. I just transferred my studio skills to weddings and it’s the best! What’s your favourite West Mids location/venue to shoot at, why? Oooh do you know often it’s the team that make it. I have so many but in West Mids Warwick Castle is very special to me as is Wethele Manor. What’s your favourite part of the job? I think the evening time as I get to see everyone has gelled by then and the fun can really start. What are your top tips for nearlyweds? Remember that to have a great wedding your guests will copy you − if you dedicate your energy to having fun they will follow suit. If the heavens open or the roof falls in or something goes wrong and you burst into laughter – they’ll follow! Guests at weddings don’t all know each other but they can gel quickly if the bride and groom are having a hoot! It’s one day enjoy it!  01926 409 101 | daveperryphotography.co.uk TIMOTHY JAMES PHOTOGRAPHY Timothy Pratt says... What inspired you to become a wedding photographer? My journey into wedding photography was, in some ways, a very logical one. After university I worked at a photography studio and out of all the styles of photo shoots I had to do I enjoyed couple shoots the most. It was great to chat and build a rapport with each couple during their session, which felt more comfortable and natural when bouncing ideas off of them. At the same time, I was developing a greater interest in location shoots and this inevitably led to wedding photography which is without a doubt what I enjoy most. What’s your favourite part of the job? My favourite part of the job is still meeting new couples. I’ve always loved hearing people’s stories and getting to build that relationship and being a part of their wedding day is always a fantastic feeling. This is something I really enjoy about pre- wedding shoots, it’s a great way to get to know my couples more, find out what they enjoy, their quirks, how they make each other laugh, it’s a really important part of the process of capturing their wedding overall. What’s your favourite West Mids location/venue to shoot at, why? It’s hard to choose a favourite; I really enjoyed shooting at Hogarths Hotel in Solihull recently. The grounds at the rear of the hotel has so many features to make use of and I was really surprised when I first visited to do a recce for the wedding. What are your top tips for nearlyweds? I would say try to make photography a part of your future relationship together not just your wedding. A lot of the couples I meet regularly say they don’t enjoy having their photo taken or they have never had professional photos taken before. Yet they go to great effort to make photography a part of their wedding day and of course, they love viewing the final photos themselves. I think the experience of taking time to enjoy photos together is really important – whether that’s a photo shoot together or taking time to revisit old photographs and have them printed and framed. I would simply say celebrate your milestones with new photos and make the same effort to capture new memories more frequently, however it works for you, keep that adventure with photographs alive. timothy@tjpphotography.co.uk | tjpphotography.co.uk
