64 MEG QUICK PHOTOGRAPHY Megan Quick says... What inspired you to become a wedding photographer? My first job after university was as a photography assistant at a Photography Studio and I was asked to assist on a wedding day. It was probably one of the busiest days I’ve ever worked but I loved being able to capture such a happy occasion. After assisting for a year I decided to branch off on my own and I haven’t looked back since.  What’s your favourite West Mids location/venue to shoot at, why? My favourites are constantly changing each year when I discover new places but I think recently my favourite would have to be either Warwick House, I love that you can throw confetti inside and create a beautiful walk through photograph. However I also love Swallows Nest Barn for its amazing ceremony and reception area too, the rustic look is so beautiful for wedding photos.  What’s your favourite part of the job? My favourite part of the job would probably be the wonderful people I get to meet on wedding days. I’ve been so lucky throughout my career that I’ve got to meet so many lovely people and it’s really a blessing that I get to capture their special day for them.  What are your top tips for nearlyweds? My top tip would probably be to enjoy your day and spend time with your new husband or wife on the day. As silly as that seems I see so many couples that spend their whole day at other ends of the room. One of the reasons I take my couples away from the crowd for their photos is so that they can enjoy some time together as newlyweds.  07800 580 633 | mquickphotography.portfoliobox.net NICOLA GOUGH PHOTOGRAPHY Nicola Gough says... What inspired you to become a wedding photographer? I kind of fell into weddings. Photography was always a hobby but I never for one minute thought I’d make a career out of it. I wanted to be a journalist when I was at school and studied media studies at college before working in the family business, a jewellery shop in Birmingham, as well as about 20 other different jobs over the years. Photography never went away and I was always taking pictures in my downtime, I even dabbled with a photography degree as a mature student. I shot my first wedding in 2009 and this year will see me shoot my 200th wedding, that’s pretty mind boggling. What’s your favourite West Mids location/venue to shoot at, why? Oh now that’s not fair! Can I have a top four instead? Iscoyd Park, it’s a vast country house pretty much made for hosting incredible parties surrounded by countryside; Walcot Hall, this super-quirky stately home has a turquoise ballroom and sprawling grounds offering yurts, gypsy caravans and an old tin chapel; Pimhill Barn, each and every wedding is different here because it’s a totally blank canvas and the main house offers some of the most beautiful gardens; Pendrell Hall, the inside is just as gorgeous, if not more so than the outside, so whatever the weather, it’s guaranteed to be awesome. What’s your favourite part of the job? The people. Hands down, the people that I get to meet make this job amazing. I’m privileged that I get to meet some wonderful couples and families who share so many special moments with me; not just the obvious stuff but the tiny moments too, the words that dads say to daughters when they see her as a bride for the first time or when I hear all the stories about how the bridesmaids became friends. I’m fascinated by their stories and their journeys and there’s nothing better than when a couple ‘let you in’ and trust you to capture everything. What are your top tips for nearlyweds? Choose your wedding suppliers because you love their work and them as people, before you think about the money. When choosing your photographer, keep in mind that you’ll spend more time with them than any other wedding supplier; they’re likely to be the last supplier you deal with too, as they will be delivering your images to you weeks after the big day. It’s so important to choose one who makes you feel comfortable, plus, the more comfortable you feel, the better a time you’ll have when having your picture taken.  07847 186 848 | weddingphotographyinshropshire.co.uk 64
