REAL WEDDINGS 37  I wore three outfits! It was important for the registry in the morning that Chika did not see the main outfit. It was important to be married by a particular person and the ceremony to be a reflection of freedom to be had with a blessing that was personal. The service needed to reflect God and an allowing of the Holy spirit to move as He so wished. Since, there is no crossover of faith with the legal service, the registry had a Greek-style outfit. The main dress was an off the peg dress by Modeca. Maid-of-honour and chief-bridesmaid wore dark blue full-length dresses while my four bridesmaids were in the same style but in claret. It was ideal to have individual designs that suited their body shapes as we are all unique. The final evening outfit was a red African outfit, we wanted to ensure that this culture featured too. Reflections, which is a magic mirror booth, was the perfect entertainment for guests as were the arcade games such as space invaders and foosball. I could not stop smiling, not necessarily because of the camera but because I was so happy – it was total relief too that the day had come! It was so touching and just such a privilege to have people supporting you. One bridesmaid, I can never forget her painting rustic signs the night before the wedding!
