FABULOUS FLORALS Q What’s hot in 2020 in the world of flowers for us to be inspired for our big day? Judith says: Whilst blush flowers will continue to be popular we are going to see a lot more colourful flowers and less foliage-heavy bouquets. Eco credentials are becoming increasingly important and so locally grown flowers and floral provenance will be more a focus this year Locally grown flowers can add that touch of magic to the designs with movement and often fragrance too. Flowers From The Farm is a national network of flower farmers and florists who use locally grown flowers so why not visit their website flowersfromthefarm.co.uk and find a local supplier of British flowers. Couples are increasingly aware of environmental concerns. There’s a growing movement towards more sustainable floristry so avoiding the use of floral foam in designs and instead opt for traditional methods of foam free designs using chicken wire and moss. Using these mechanics results in much lighter and more natural designs too. Large cloud installations using this method are becoming more popular and table centrepieces which are heavily influenced by the Japanese style of floristry are starting to appear. The other notable trend which started last year and is gathering pace is the use of dried flowers, not in a dusty old way from the 1970s but often in among fresh flowers adding lots of interest and texture. Bleached foliage is also becoming popular and adds another dimension to the floral designs. Stephanie says: This past year has seen a very strong shift in the bridal world towards the more minimalistic make-up trend. Ever since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot and showed off her beauty enhancing bridal make-up people have been opting more and more for this way of application. It’s all about enhancing your natural features rather than concealing them with contour and thick insta brows! Ditch the highlighter and opt for a rosy glow instead, try using a luminous foundation to give you that natural radiance from within. Show off your fluffy brows, avoid the matte eyeshadows and instead opt for a gorgeous shimmer to really make your eyes pop and lastly add a lip gloss on top of your lipstick to give that fuller, brighter appearance to your lips. Stephanie Morgan | SJM Beauty | sjmbeauty.com GROOMED TO PERFECTION Q My hubby-to-be is heavily influenced by the fashion industry what will be hot in 2020 for grooms? Carolyn says: Tweed suits are still a huge trend for 2020 whether that’s in greys and blues, plain, checked or herringbone tweeds, all are proving popular. Checked wool and flannel suits are starting to make an appearance, both small and large checks, while the most popular colour for suits is blue, in all its shades, from pale to dark navy. Three-piece suits are the most popular because even when the jackets are taken off the groom and his groomsmen still look dapper. Double breasted waistcoats are going to be more popular in 2020, in Prince of Wales Check, dog tooth and flannel, to be worn with morning or lounge suits.
