Your West Midlands Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 65)
REAL WEDDINGS 39 was the one as I felt a million dollars,” shares the bride. “I chose it for the beautiful back with the wing-like lace and gorgeous button detail. I also liked that it was fitted but still had a train – which I was able to pick up to dance in the evening! I also wore my mum’s veil from her wedding, something borrowed , which had delicate lace detail at the end of it which complemented the back of the dress beautifully while in the church. I also wore my granny’s blue sapphire earrings, something blue , which were absolutely stunning. I didn’t want to give them back!” Chris looked dapper in a classic pinstripe trouser suit, black tails, blush pink tie and cream tweed waistcoat – to add the country feel. The corsage was a white rose with a pheasant feather. The groomsmen were matching as was the pageboy but they wore slightly different coloured waistcoats. The bridesmaids wore True Bride dresses in melon, with the maid-of-honour in a different style. “All had beautiful back designs with buttons which is what caught my eye,” adds Imogen. “Simple but sophisticated, the off-the-shoulder and lace detail down the back of the head bridesmaid’s dress was really beautiful.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “We knew we wanted to have live jazz music to create an atmosphere and get guests of all ages up and dancing,” says Chris. “We got in contact with an old school friend who is a professional trumpeter and musician, who provided us with his band which he put together for weddings. They did an incredible job, we had a full dancefloor all evening until the early hours. They put together great adaptations of modern songs along with jazz classics that we’ve always loved.” During the day Chris had the most amazing feeling for the duration, “Cliché, but it suddenly makes sense on the day. It was a bubble of pure happiness and love, and that’s down to being surrounded by everyone we care about who made it genuinely perfect. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, and I didn’t want it to end.” Imogen adds, I thought I’d be nervous and worried that things wouldn’t be perfect but in the lead up to the wedding I realised the suppliers we used, alleviated that stress, so none of that even crossed my mind. I was excited and felt myself grinning literally all day, I got to marry my best friend and start a new chapter of our lives together surrounded by people who care and support us – it was just incredible! It was just a continuous hubbub of love, laughter and happiness.” A standout part for Imogen was just before she entered the church. “I was about to walk in with my dad, hearing my brother playing his clarinet, seeing friends and family through the door and thinking to myself, ‘This is it, things haven’t ever felt this right or perfect and this is just amazing’.” “A funny story, when we looked through our beautiful photos, we realised that one of the bestmen had scampered off with Chris’ niece and nephew at one point, and there’s an incredible photo of him pretending to be shot when the niece blew bubbles at him! Hilarious that we had no idea this was going on, and such a heartwarming photo. Our photographer was incredible. Not only did his shots capture the day perfectly, but he seemed to be in a million places at once, managed to get photos of things we had no idea were going on!”
