84 Beauty Q&A Our experts give their top tips for creating summer bridal looks Millie says : “When it comes to summer bridal hair you can’t go wrong with bouncy loose curls. If you was looking for a hair-up style, each loose curl can be pinned up and simply adorned with flowers for a boho-vibe. “This wavy boho style can also be created in a half-up half-down design giving flexibility to the bride to remove the pins at the reception for a more glamorous evening look. “For summer accessories flower crowns on bridesmaids are perfect, while brides can wear fresh blooms in their hair. My top tip is to not pre-buy flowers on hair combs; this is actually quite limiting for a stylist, and a professional can hide the stems of the flowers and grips far better than the comb.” Millie Butler | The Style Lounge | thestyleloungejq.co.uk Gemma says: “My top five tips are.... 1) Look after your skin. Start a good skincare regime a minimum four-months before your wedding exfoliating twice a week and use a nourishing face mask. Cleanse, tone and moisturise and use a nourishing eye cream morning and night plus drink plenty of water get plenty of sleep and an exercise routine if you can. All of these factors make a massive difference to how fresh your face will look on the day. I love Estée Lauder skincare products also Decléor. 2) Decide on your hair length and colour in plenty of time for the wedding, making drastic changes a few weeks before the big day is not advisable. Also, prep your hair with hair treatments, either Moroccanoil or Olaplex to make your hair look glossy and healthy. 3) Have your make-up and hair trial a minimum of three months before the wedding so you have plenty of time to make any changes. 4) Glowing skin is a must! I adore foundation airbrushing for a stunning finish with all of my brides. 5) Lastly, I recommend pastel shades for a summer bridal make-up look, with fresh flowers delicately dotted through the hair.” Gemma Howard-Masters | Make-up and Hair by Gemma | make-upandhairbygemma.co.uk Zoe says, “When my clients ask for a summer bridal look I take into consideration their wedding theme, colour scheme and their normal make-up style. I like to complement the bride and tie her look in beautifully with the bouquet and bridesmaids’ dresses. When I think of a summer bride I think fresh, light hues with a wash of colour on the cheeks and lips such as a peach or pink. As always, make sure the make-up is long lasting.
