99 EXPERT ADVICE Beauty Q&A Our local pros solve your problems LUSCIOUS LIPS I’d love to be able to rock a bold statement lip on our wedding day, but I’m worried this might be a bit too heavy for our relaxed vibe. How can I achieve my dream look without going overboard? Bryony says: This is a great look for any bride wanting to make a statement. If, however, you’re worried a daring tone may be too heavy for a more relaxed ceremony, try applying the desired hue as a stain. Pat gently on to your lips using your ring finger to create a soft pop of colour. Your partner will love this too as it’s less likely to transfer on to their mouth during that kiss! Then, post- service when you’re ready to party, apply this same shade directly from the lipstick for a richer, opaque finish that’ll wow your guests. I’m wondering how this compares to other methods and would it be the best option for me on my wedding day? Gemma says: I absolutely love airbrushing my brides as the finished result is immaculate! A light diffusion of foundation on the skin leaves a flawless finish and the beauty of this is the coverage can be made as sheer or as heavy as you wish. Other base applications look lovely, and a good make-up artist will use high- quality products for your nuptials, if you don’t have the airbrushing equipment. I’ve listened to feedback from pphotographers I’ve worked with and they always complement the cosmetics finish when editing the wedding images. How can I glam this up for my bridal look? Laura says: I love a smoky eye, and this soft sophisticated look on your wedding day is the ultimate in bridal glam. However, I’d definitely recommend perhaps switching your usual evening blacks and greys for softer hues and opt for bronze or plums to complement your eyes as well as your wedding colours. Blue-eyed brides look stunning in warm tones, try shades of peach, coral and chocolates; I love Too Faced Just Peachy palette. If you’re choosing cooler tones for your wedding colours, or you have hazel or brown eyes try MAC Haux Eyeshadow contoured with Blackberry or Sketch. A good all-rounder to suit all eye colours and my personal favourite (I chose this for my wedding) is Charlotte Tilbury quad Vintage Vamp. Be sure to add lashings of mascara or treat yourself to a LVL Lash Lift ahead of the day to ensure twinkly eyes.
