Your London Wedding - November/December 2023 (Issue 92)

LOOKING YOUR BEST 77 SYLWIA KUNYSZ AT SYLWIA KUNYSZ MAKEUP ARTIST BROOKE FELTHAM AT VANITY LOUNGE LONDON When did your passion for beauty start? It all started when my nan used to teach me how to plait my dolly’s hair that used to stick to her kitchen door. I always knew I wanted to do hair since infant school and took part in my first wedding at 17 – the rest is history! When did you start the company? I officially started Vanity Lounge in 2014; I aimed to have my own salon and specialise in bridal hair – this came true in 2023! What’s your favourite part about the job? My favourite part is constantly meeting new people and seeing what brides have chosen for their big day. But I also love witnessing the father-of-the-brides first look at their daughters during their special day – I cry every time. What’s your top wedding tip? Try not to stress on the little things and take in every moment because it goes so fast. Also, ensure you steam all dresses before hair and make-up. I was obsessed with 90’s supermodels and the Golden Era of Hollywood – I was probably the only one who loved watching the TCM TV with the classic movies! I would buy whatever magazine was available to check out product recommendations and scan a beauty section for tips and tricks, even though not much was available in stores when I grew up. When did you start the company? I started my first training session 10 years ago while working part-time as an admin in a construction firm. I wanted my life to be more than a spreadsheet; I wanted my job to take me places while creating beautiful looks. What do you offer nearlyweds? I specialise in timeless make-up looks with a modern feel. My clients choose me for my attention to detail, passion for effortless looks and experience. They trust me because I listen to their needs, which always comes up in reviews. What’s your favourite part about the job? My favourite parts are creating the look and the initial inspirational conversation. Translating a look suitable for the bride’s style and personality is critical, as it’s never one size fits all. What’s your top wedding tip? Take your time in the morning, schedule a nice shower/bath or go for a run – wherever calms you down. Ask your make-up artist to come with an assistant for bigger bridal parties to ensure a relaxed morning.
