74 EMMA FORLETTA AT EMMA FORLETTA WEDDING AND EVENTS HAIRDRESSING ANNA LOUCAH AT ANNALOUCAH FINE JEWELLERY When did your passion for jewellery start? I honestly can’t remember a time when I wasn’t making something. As I learned about the traditions and symbolism of jewellery, I knew that I had found something that would offer me endless fascination and a deep personal connection. When did you start the company? I grew up in Cornwall, far from big brand names or businesses. Artisan makers and craftspeople surrounded me, so starting my small business in my Cornish hometown felt natural. I aimed to immerse myself in what I love and to create work that would be meaningful and cherished. I have always loved the physical process of working with precious metals. As my understanding of the jewellery industry grew, I realised how I source my materials is just as important. As a result, a focus on best ethical practices has been at the foundation of my business for many years. What do you offer nearlyweds? My focus has been almost entirely on bridal and custom-made jewellery. Alongside my made-to-order collections, I also offer a fully bespoke wedding and engagement service. I work closely with couples, advising and guiding them through the process to help them realise their vision, ensuring we create their perfect piece. I try to make this process as light as possible as I understand how daunting it can initially seem! I recently started holding Make Your Own Wedding Rings sessions in my central London studio for those wanting to get involved. What’s your favourite part about the job? It must be the big reveal, the moment the jewellery recipient opens that box for the first time. Seeing their faces light up with such a precious and honest response is what it’s all about for me. When that happens, I know I’ve done my job correctly. What’s your top wedding tip? Remember that everyone in the room is there because they love you and want the best for you. Check out: www.annaloucah.com When did my passion for beauty start? It all started at a local college when I was 18! I was in my second year of hairdressing NVQ, and I was entering a ‘Dressing Hair’ award where my style was based on Elisabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice – I ended up winning! This award sparked my passion for dressing hair; I loved tapping into my creative side as regular hairstyling at that time felt more like a job to me. When did you start the company? I started a mobile hairdressing business early aged 19; I dabbled in different salons but hated the atmosphere. I loved people and mobile hairdressing as I could make friendships with my customers and enjoy my work. At that time, I aimed to keep my customers loyal and happy – I had no ambition for more. I fell into bridal and events because of the mobile nature of my business. People wanted someone to come to their home or hotel to get them ready; this is where my bridal business started around 10 years ago! What do you offer nearlyweds? I offer brides a hairdressing journey from their first enquiry and reserve their date before working to bring their hair goals to life while tackling any hair-related problems. I pride myself on being a happy and approachable hairstylist, where my clients feel comfortable speaking with me about anything. As I’m married, I always draw out how the bride feels and contribute to suggestions. What’s your favourite part of the job? I love wedding days when all the ideas have come together and all the vendors create a beautiful wedding atmosphere! It’s always a proud moment to receive the professional images back. What’s your top wedding tip? You have done all the planning possible, so enjoy every moment and always find time with your partner when possible, even if it’s for ten minutes, to soak it all up!
