LOOKING YOUR BEST 73 BEAUTY Bridal Look your big-day best with help from these talented companies Couples inevitably want to look their ultimate big-day best for their wedding, and it’s essential to find the perfect team of suppliers to bring their vision to life! Here at Your London Wedding, we’ve asked beauty experts from around the city to showcase their work and what they offer newlyweds to help lovebirds find the dream team. CAMILLA J COLLINS AT CJC HAIR & MAKEUP When did your passion for hair and make-up start? I’ve always had a passion for art; it was my strongest subject at school, and so I went on to study at Central Saint Martins. My artwork was mainly focused on the human form and its distortion. So, I figured prosthetic make-up was something I could make a career out of. I started freelancing in the film and photographic industry but found my true calling in bridal hair and make-up – I love being part of someone’s special day! When did you start the company? I started as a sole trader/freelancer in 2010 and began building the CJC Hair & Makeup agency in 2014 to give brides the five-start treatment I believe every client deserves. Emotions can run high on the wedding day, so we wanted to ensure that brides feel like they have a friend there. We aim to build confidence and beauty from within for our lovely clients through the care, attention and empowering conversations in the make-up chair. What do you offer nearlyweds? We offer a 30 to 45-minute free, no-obligation video consultation to discuss all things bridal! As well as discussing looks and visions for the day, we can help lighten the load of wedmin and offer support with our little purple book of suppliers if needed. I also created a digital coaching course which takes brides-to-be from stressed out and overwhelmed to in control and confident. Our small boutique agency allows us to cater for larger bridal parties and wedding guests while maintaining focus and care with each of our lovely brides. The team works wonderfully together, creating a lovely energy on a wedding morning. We don’t have a high turnover of artists, and many have been with us since the agency started. What’s your favourite part about the job? It’s got to be nailing that looks both at the hair and makeup trial and then again on the big day when a bride’s face lights up at her reflection in the mirror. There’s no better feeling than witnessing that and knowing that you helped make that feeling of pure joy happen. What’s your top wedding tip? Create space in the day for you both to take some alone time together and process the day as it goes along. This day is a celebration of love, so allow yourself to feel and enjoy that with each other. It’ll be over in the blink of an eye, so taking a few intervals and moments to get the most out of your day!
