Your London Wedding - September/October 2023 (Issue 91)

When planning, we were both very keen to ensure the wedding was as fun for everyone as possible. We felt, after so much uncertainty and difficulties in navigating Covid-19, that we just wanted a huge party with our loved ones together. By the cake table, my friend Emmy presented me with these amazing trainers she’d designed for me to dance in later that night ‒ she’s an illustrator. Emmy pointed at something and as she moved her elbow back, she put it straight into the cake. There was then an elbow-shaped dent in the middle and icing all over her. Our photographer captured the horror on her face and all our laughter. We used a red double-decker bus as our guests’ transport, supplied by London Retro Bus Hire, then an old black cab for Seb and I after the ceremony, hired from Classic London Taxis Ltd. Jayne and Andi at Halcyon Halcyon were excellent! They were absolutely lovely, total professionals and they went that extra mile to make our day special. I found the morning of the wedding quite overwhelming and was very focused on getting to the ceremony. It wasn’t until I was in the taxi on the way to Islington Town Hall that I really relaxed. Seb wore a blue Paul Smith suit with a light check and a blue tie, while the groomsmen woredifferent linen suits with orange patterned ties. 40
