Your London Wedding - September/October 2022 (Issue 86)

52 GABI STANISZEWSKA, HAIR BY GABRIELLE, WWW.HAIRBYGABRIELLE.CO.UK Looking your best on your big day is usually top of the list for brides-to-be and hair and make-up is the main way to achieve enhanced beauty. First and foremost, while bridal make-up artists like myself have the skill to transform women with elegant and beautiful looks, it’s important to look after the skin underneath first. Pamper yourself ahead of your day with a facial, but my advice is not to carry out a chemical facial too close to the wedding in case of any reactions. I do strongly recommend an exfoliating and hydrating facial though, even for skin that’s already in good condition. When it comes to your hair and make-up, don’t be too led by trends. Your photos will last a lifetime, and you won’t want to look back on them wishing that you hadn’t chosen a look that you weren’t comfortable with. Remember, you want to look like a glowier version of you, not someone else. We’re enhancing, not masking. Your real beauty comes from within. There are so many clever tricks and techniques that hair and make-up artists can employ to ensure you look your best on the surface, but it’s also important to feel your best inside too. Wedding prep and getting married can be stressful, alongside the excitement and happiness, so make sure you’re looking after your mental health in the lead up. Being consistent with things like getting a good diet of fresh fruits and lots of liquids such as green tea can do wonders. As well as this, take care of your body by making sure you’re getting enough sleep and carrying out some self-care treatments, such as taking the time for a long bath or going for a walk. If you’re struggling, call in the troops and ask for some support – it’s a lot of pressure to be a bride! PHILIPPA LEE, PHILIPPA LOUISE MAKE-UP, WWW.PHILIPPALOUISEMAKEUP.CO.UK Looking good and feeling great on your big day starts from within. I always advise my brides to book in for some regular you time. This can range from going to a spa to really relax and unwind, to booking in regular facials to ensure your skin’s looking it’s best and glowing from within. I always suggest finding your facialist at least 6-8 months before your day so you can begin your skin journey and find what suits you, so on the day your skin’s in the best possible condition for the application of make-up. FACEGYM is my go-to for facials and they do a wonderful bridal package. Let’s just say that you can look 10yrs younger! The £14million Club at Cottonmill Spa at Sopwell House is my fave spa to visit to switch off. This is pure luxury and it’s worth every penny. Ensure you book in for their one-of-a-kind massages too. I also think that doing some mindful daily meditation and facial exercises on the lead up to the day is important, this can rid any tension in the jaw and face and enhance the glow whilst softening any fine lines. Look after yourself from the inside out and it will show on your big day. Beauty comes from within https://helenwarner.co.uk https://helenwarner.co.uk https://helenwarner.co.uk
