How do I know what beauty look to go for on my big day that will make me look natural yet flawless? As an older make-up artist, who doesn’t wear much make-up, I understand your hesitancy! I have worked with lots of mature brides and everyone is different. Some people go for gorgeous smoky make-up while others prefer a barely-there feel. However, each style needs skilful application; in fact, the more natural looking, the more skill is required. There are a couple of things to remember about big-day make-up. Firstly, like it or not, you’ll be the main focus of the day, so all eyes are on you. Secondly, if you opt for a white or ivory dress, and your make-up is too natural, you can be in danger of disappearing against your outfit. With the right make-up you’ll look amazing in photos while retaining your natural beauty. Here are some points to consider… ♥ Find the right artist. Do your research by checking out make-up artists in your area – magazines and social media are a great place to start. It’s important that an artist has images of make-up you like; if their style is heavily contoured with strong brows, they’re probably not right for you. ♥ Book a trial run. Once you’ve found the right professional, make sure you find time for a trial – no matter how busy your schedule is! Explain your concerns and be open to suggestions. Wedding make-up doesn’t have to be heavy, but you may need to wear a bit more than normal. Perhaps try out a look with more emphasis on the eyes with beautiful dewy skin. A few individual lashes might just finish it off perfectly. ♥ The finished look. Your final look should be balanced. By that I mean that your guests should look at you and say you look beautiful, but they might not be able to say exactly what’s different! Remember, there is no one-size-fits-all; whatever look you opt for on the big day, the most important thing is that you feel like the most gorgeous version of yourself – whatever your age. www.peb bleheaven.co.uk Q&A Beauty Top beauty advice for mature brides wtih Wedding Makeup and Hair by Pam Wrigley 85 ASK THE EXPERTS
