Your London Wedding - March/April 2021 (Issue 76)
Who needs cake when we had all the bubbles? W e were going to go with a cake made of cheese, but that’s a lot of cheese to put upon 13 guests, two photographers and staff ! We’ve promised ourselves a proper cake whe n we can finally hold the party. Wild at Heart provided all the floral decoration, and they had the perfect concept for our theme: an autumnal rustic vibe meets Soho grit! The florist was amazing at getting it all done with an ever-changing brief and getting the flowers to reflect the character of the venue. We didn’t add too much styling – the venue alone is enough decor for anyone. You can’t beat getting married beneath the gaze of David Bowie and Kate Moss. Soho is where our friendship began and is such a huge part of our lives together; the venue had to be The Groucho Club. It represents everything that’s great about Soho – and does excellent bloody Marys! The original plan was to have the ceremony in Highgate, the wedding breakfast at Copita in Soho, then a party at The Groucho. The pandemic put paid to that, but after a lot of replanning, and finding out we could marry at The Groucho, we were able to keep the spirit of our day alive. 42
