Your London Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 73)

A friend recommended a cake designer who made her wedding cake and had previously supplied Fortnum & Mason. We had a two-tier bake in Giovanni’s favourite: red velvet. It was decorated in a textured watercolour design to complement our palette and was topped with white roses. We decided on a royal blue theme to match my sapphire engagement ring and accented it with ivory as a neutral colour. Our wonderful local florist sourced the most gorgeous dark blue hydrangeas, which were used in the bouquets. For our centrepieces we had beautiful domed clusters of blooms in light blue, dark blue and white. The Queen’s House was perfect for us. Being able to have the ceremony and reception at the same venue was a must, and we fell in love with its history and many beautiful features. The Tulip Stairs, the Colonnade and the original black-and-white marble flooring of the Great Hall gave us so many photo opportunities. Tea is a very important part of a Chinese wedding. As we were not having a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, we decided to incorporate it in a different way by giving flowering teas as favours to our loved ones. 44
