Tell us about your background and how you started your business… I initially trained in personal fitness and wellbeing, working in top spa resorts across the Caribbean before returning to London. I then retrained in a broad range of therapeutic, aesthetic and skincare treatments, which can all be viewed on the Tranquilstate website. I operate from my studio in North East London and have clients from around the world. What are your dos and don’ts for grooms-to-be? To make sure you’re looking your best, schedule time in advance of the big day for facial treatments, haircuts, shaves, waxing and a manicure. Don’t have a facial on your wedding day or in the days leading up. Who is your grooming icon? I would say Tyson Beckford. He was one of the original black models that I grew up with and always admired. I remember watching him when he was part of the Ralph Lauren Polo campaign in the 90s. What’s your favourite part of the city to relax in? I would have to say Hampstead; I love the views of Kenwood House. On a warm summer’s evening with the open-air orchestra playing, nothing can beat it! What grooming trends do we need to know about? Current trends for guys getting married are face scrubs, moisturising treatments and manscaping, which at Tranquilstate includes back, shoulders and intimate waxing. Tell us about your most requested grooming ritual… Our grooms and best man package is our most popular option. This grooming ritual includes a full-body scrub, aromatherapy massage, manicure and facial treatment. Men are keen to achieve clear skin with no dark circles under their eyes.
