Your London Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 72)

62 WE’LL MEET AGAIN Many couples who had weddings planned this summer have postponed and set a new date. And while most people’s diaries are filled with empty pages for the foreseeable, that doesn’t mean that they won’t fill up fast. With the 2020 season effectively wiped out, next year looks set to be a bumper time for weddings, so it may be a good idea to send out those save-the-dates as soon as possible. “Contact your stationer and ask for a wedding postponement card. Use clear and concise wording, making sure to include the key information. Your stationer can create a card based on the design selected for the invitations to reflect your theme. This can be distributed by text, WhatsApp or email, or you can arrange to have them printed and posted. If the new date is unknown, include wording such as ‘Stay tuned for our new date’.” – Vaishali Shah, Ananya Cards “We’ve tackled this by offering our clients who have had to postpone free digital cards that they can send to their guests. This either informs them of the new date or lets them know the couple will be in touch w ith further details. If you’ve h ad to put your wedding on h old, I believe that when the n ew day arrives it will be t hat much more treasured.” – D omenica Francesca Goode, C artalia Stationery Studio “If COVID-19 has affected your plans, you should promptly contact your invitees, prioritising those who are planning to travel, as they may need to cancel their arrangements. If the need to postpone came after the official announcement of your date, it is best to inform your loved ones with a change-of-date or change-of-plans card.” – Julia Tarian, Polina Perri “You’ve already sent out your beautiful invitations, and then comes this global pandemic that you simply cannot control. The etiquette here is to post cards informing your guests of the change. However, many couples may choose to communicate via email, group messages or by phone. Why not get your bridal party involved with informing your guests about a new date? Don’t forget to update your wedding website too, if you have one.” – Kal Osahan, Quint London Wedding Stationery “I’ve set out three options for my current clients to navigate this. An electronic change-the-date card sent by email or text matching the current stationery has been the preferred choice. Some couples have wanted something printed that they can post, and some have taken the opportunity to have a whole new stationery suite. Remember that love is patient; whether you get married on your own or wait a couple of years and do it in style, the important thing is that you have each other.” – Zoe Lacey, The Golden Letter www.ana nyacards.com | w ww.annelimarinovich.com www.cart alia.co.uk www.theg oldenletter.co.uk www.poli na-perri.co.uk www.quin tlondon.com www.shos hycadoodle.com
