Your London Wedding - Jan/Feb 2020 (Issue 69)
69 LOOKING YOUR BEST Maya Serieux married Ash Serieux at St Stephen’s Church, Enfield followed by reception at Buckettsland Farm in Borehamwood. She chose a white, A-line gown for the ceremony and changed into a traditional outfit for the reception. Q When planning your bridal look, did you have a particular style in mind? My everyday style is simple, comfortable but quirky so I wanted my bridal look to be the same. As we planned a summer wedding, I wanted to feel free and be able to move with ease throughout the day. Q How would you describe your bridal style? Traditional with a twist. Q Did you switch up your look during the wedding? For my ceremony dress, I initially wanted a ’50s-style, shorter dress but as the planning progressed, our guest numbers snowballed and suddenly the knee-length gown I’d envisaged didn’t seem appropriate so I visited a bridal boutique to find a different style. I tried two A-line designs and, when I tried the first, I knew it was the one . Accessories wise, I wanted to keep it simple and to tie in with our ‘floral summer’s day’ theme with a gold colour scheme so I opted for shoes to match. I changed half way through the reception into a custom-made red, lace outfit. I’m part Ghanaian and was keen to incorporate a more traditional outfit into our day.
