Your London Wedding - Nov/Dec 2019 (Issue 68)
66 The colour palette: Navy, purple, gold, burgundy, dusky pink and black The venue: Paradise by Way of Kensal Green The details: Legend has it that the first pomegranate tree was planted by Aphrodite, the goddess of love, hence the berry’s moniker, the fruit of love. Inspired by the rich hue and jewel-like glitter of its seeds, we put together a colour palette to celebrate this winter crop and complement our chosen venue. Indeed, Paradise by Way of Kensal Green’s boudoir vibes dictated our overall rustic, Boho feel – think contrasting textures and an air of celebratory abundance realised in, for example, the dessert table, with its brick backdrop hung with macramé, gold pomegranate-shaped truffles and magnificent cake, decorated with foliage and roses. For tables, think mis-matched glassware contrasting with midnight blue plates and gold cutlery, softened with ribbon-tied napkins. Handwritten place cards made from hand-dyed cotton rag paper juxtaposed with acrylic signage. This look is personified by an artful blend of old and new.
