Your London Wedding - Nov/Dec 2019 (Issue 68)

WEST RESERVOIR CENTRE Originally a filtration plant and now a sailing centre by day, this one-of-a-kind venue transforms into a stylish and quirky setting for weddings and events as night falls. Indeed, the 1930s red-brick Main Tower accommodates up to 150 seated guests for receptions or up to 180 friends and family for a less formal affair, while the separate Seminar Room is ideal as a break-out space. Inside there’s industrial features galore – ideal for those looking for a warehouse feel and there’s plenty of space outside too; the lower decking is well suited to street food-style vans or there’s two wooden terraces either side of the Main Tower for summer celebrations and entertainment. Outside, the unusual curved façade and leafy setting provide charm a-plenty. Inside, the Council Chamber with its curved speaker’s table and walnut panelling is the natural choice for ceremonies – there’s room for up to 83 loved ones across the chamber itself and the viewing balcony above. Newlyweds can then lead their loved ones into the 1930s Assembly Hall for an informal reception for up to 300 friends and family. Complete with Canadian maple sprung dancefloor – and that mirror ball, of course – this is the ultimate party venue. Ceremony licence? Yes Contact: 020 8356 5505 | hackneyvenues.com 22
