Your London Wedding - Sep/Oct 2019 (Issue 67)

81 REGIONAL SHOOT Davina McFarlane of Davina Simone Weddings reveals the inspiration behind this idyllic styled shoot at Vestry Hall, Mitcham Images courtesy of Diana Crown Pictures IN THE I was inspired by a visit to my favourite place to be in the world, that’s my local park, to create this ‘Parisian Garden’ look. The aim was to bring the outside in with large, lush floral centrepieces in golden urns, which we elevated for maximum impact. The place settings were made up of two different designs: chargers with a solid gold rim, overlaid with side plates bordered with a more delicate pattern for added interest. Designs can be cohesive without matching precisely – the key to pattern-clashing is to keep to a single colour palette. Contemporary candle holders from GB Elegant Events added height along the table. We then folded menu cards into each napkin – the stationery was designed by London Wedding Stationery with a floral border to complement the overall garden theme, mirrored in the four-tier cake,  which was decorated with an abundance of sugar flowers that looked almost real. The chic acrylic chairs were contributed by Eden Event – they add a rather fabulous French feel to the occasion, as does model Lynn’s chic French chignon, created by the talented Judith Mian. And as for the blooms themselves, cascading roses, hydrangeas and delphiniums in pastel shades were arranged on an arch installation to create the illusion of an al fresco setting. Arches are so versatile – you can use them as a ceremony backdrop, to add interest and drama to your cake table or as a stand-out feature behind your top table. Paris spring
