Your London Wedding - Sep/Oct 2019 (Issue 67)

16 TUDOR BARN ELTHAM Tudor Barn Eltham may well be located in Southeast London but walking up to this charming venue, surrounded by 13 acres of parkland, you’d be forgiven for thinking that you’d got off the train at the wrong stop and somehow ended up in the countryside. Indeed, Well Hall Pleasaunce provides an utterly idyllic backdrop for a wedding. Inside is no less impressive, with the Tudor Gallery’s original beams and stained glass windows providing atmosphere to ceremonies for up to 190 guests. Overall, there’s room for 280 seated friends and family, or 350 carousers for your big-day celebrations. The moat terrace is a must for those ‘just married’ shots. Ceremony licence? Ceremonies for 80 guests can be held in the antique-lined Gallery, with its wooden flooring, rich red walls and bay window, which overlooks the colourful rose garden. You can hold a wedding breakfast for 60 loved ones here too or, alternatively, pitch a marquee for 100 friends and family in the Walled Garden. The venue is available to hire exclusively, and is home to the Wernher Collection, one of the finest private art collections around, meaning you can say ‘I do’ under the wings of Giulio Bergonzoli’s romantic The Love of Angels statue.
