Your London Wedding - Jul/Aug 2019 (Issue 66)
77 REGIONAL SHOOT After extensive renovation, Chelsea Old Town Hall has been dressed to impress by this crack team of London suppliers Images courtesy of Tino Antoniou Photography STYLE FILES A fter an 11-month renovation, Chelsea Old Town Hall has been restored to its former splendour, and the Cadogan Suite in particular was earmarked for a transformation. With its eye-catching mantelpiece, this newly rediscovered gem is now a charming reception space. Cristal, head stylist of Cristal Olivier Weddings, put together this stunning shoot not only to highlight the Cadogan Suite’s classic features but also demonstrate the flexibility of the space. Moving away from the traditional layout, she added creative flair with a personalised dancefloor, which doubled as a focal point, ideal for showing off that magnificent cake in all its glory. “It was an absolute pleasure to be selected to style the Cadogan Suite. My vision was for contemporary luxury set among Victorian elegance – the venue’s architecture is stunning so should be complemented.” Painted a flattering shade of duck-egg blue, Cristal took inspiration from the room’s existing colour scheme and original features. Suspended arrangements of abundant white flowers emphasised the high ceilings while gold accents complemented the room’s impressive chandeliers. The cake, an eye-catching five-tier confection designed by Elizabeth of Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium, was decorated to chime with the overall colour scheme, with detail inspired by the room’s cornice and architrave. The central dancefloor’s printed design was echoed in the Duchess and Butler tableware while cute-as-a-button edible favours, including exquisitely decorated biscuits, cupcakes and lollies, combined with linen napkins in duck-egg blue added depth and interest to each place setting. Even the swirling hem of the bride’s dress complemented the tableware – now that’s what we call attention to detail.
