REAL WEDDINGS 47  neutral colour scheme and kept the décor simple. “We decorated the staircase in the ceremony room with lots of greenery and blush pink flowers and kept our centrepieces simple, using them throughout the day moving them between rooms,” Aimee reveals. And making the most of their flower arrangements meant the couple could dedicate a large part of their budget to the entertainment, photography and videography. “It was really important to us that our guests had the best day! Essentially, we just wanted a big party,” Sam admits. “The one piece of advice I had from various people was to get a videographer and I’m so pleased we did,” adds Aimee. “The video brings everything to life. Holly was with us all day and was incredibly discreet. People kept telling me to ‘enjoy every moment’, which is an impossible task. It’s a day that we planned for two years and for it to finally be happening was overwhelming – it goes by in an absolute blur so it’s amazing to be able to relive it through the video.” OOTD Aimee’s dress hunt got off to a false start, as she explains, “Like many brides, I think I ended up with a dress that was the opposite of what I thought I wanted. Before I’d tried on any gowns, I thought I wanted a boho style that didn’t look too ‘bridal’. I don’t know who I thought I was kidding. I ended up with a high-neck satin dress with a huge tulle skirt – I couldn’t have looked more bridal.” Sam, meanwhile, chose a navy pinstripe suit from Reiss and asked his groomsmen to wear navy suits, with matching ties and pocket squares. Holly walked down the aisle accompanied by a string quartet, who also played during the drinks reception before a DJ took over for the evening do. “My advice would always be to concentrate on the things that people are going to remember, like the food, drink and music,” says Holly. “We served guests a four-course wedding breakfast with a lobster starter and lamb main and had an outdoor pizza oven in the evening, which our guests loved.”
