Just before Emma was due to set off travelling around the world for a year, the pair started dating. They stayed in touch and eventually David flew out to Vietnam to join Emma in her adventures across Asia and Australia. In May 2019 David arranged a surprise picnic at Sandwich Bay and while they were getting ready to leave he got down on one knee and asked Emma to marry him. She was so taken aback it took her a few moments to give her answer, which of course was “yes.” On discovering Howfield Manor the couple were seduced by the venue’s fascinating history. “There were plenty of places for guests to explore, as well as pretty gardens and a relaxed vibe.
