Nicola and Lawrence said “I do” on Halloween with pumpkins aplenty decorating the venue Images courtesy of Bill Farnham Photography N icola and Lawrence share a great love for horses, and met at the yard where they both stable their own. Nicola says, “He asked me out for a drink the first time we met, but it took him almost four months to win me over. I didn’t think I had time for a horse and a partner!” Lawrence proposed on holiday in Lake Garda, on the terrace in front of their apartment over- looking the breathtaking scenery. Nicola explains, “Marriage had been discussed and he’d spoken to my parents, so I knew a proposal was on the cards, but wasn’t sure where or when.” He later told her that he’d planned to pop the question earlier in the trip, when they were visiting a local island, but there were so many people about, he thought it best to wait as he thought she might cry. “He was right, there were tears,” Nicola laughs. The couple made enquiries at several venues, but Eastwell Manor was the only place they actually visited. Attracted to the style, character and period features, they felt it was the perfect location. With sights set on an intimate wedding, the idea that the ceremony and reception could be held in one place was appealing. The date was set for 31 st October, 2019, to coincide with Lawrence’s daughter’s half-term holiday. Here the bride shares her memories of the big day… Octob rfest 54
