Your Kent Wedding - May/June 2020 (Issue 90)
55 love GOOD OLD-FASHIONED Joanna and Robert styled their big day in navy, rose gold and blush, with a touch of Gatsby glam Images courtesy of Rebecca Carpenter Photography R obert told Joanna the very first night they met that he was going to marry her. After meeting via a dating app, the spark was instantaneous and, Joanne says, “We felt like we’d known each other for years, rather than two weeks.” Robert proposed, surrounded by friends and family, at the end of the church aisle following their son George’s christening. Joanne shares, “It was a total surprise. He even chose the ring himself; it was perfect.” Fittingly, given their engagement spot, the couple decided to say “I do” at their local village church - St. Margaret of Antioch, Lower Halstow. The bride explains, “It was important for our ceremony to have religious elements. Plus, it’s beautifully quaint, and located right on the estuary.” They had a fully immersive experience planned for the ensuing celebrations for which they chose The Barnyard in Upchurch. The pair knew this was the spot for them thanks to the large open space of the marquee there, enabling them to host the reception of their dreams with everyone together in one place.
