Your Kent Wedding - Mar/Apr 2020 (Issue 89)
We made our own welcome signs, and hired a large rustic illuminated LOVE sign, which added a nice ambience to the evening celebrations. We also hung fairylights and white tissue pompoms across the beams. We couldn’t decide on names for the tables as we both wanted different things. So we settled for numbers in the end. I hand made all of the place names. Our colour palette featured neutral pastels so we chose pale roses with eucalyptus and astilbe. The barn also had ivy and gypsophila trailing around the perimeter and it looked completely different from the shell we first viewed. It looked incredibly romantic and very elegant. The blooms in my bouquet inspired our centrepieces. We wanted the barn to be full of fresh flowers, so we placed the arrangements on wood slices that my dad made for us, along with lanterns and candles. My mum made a four-tiered cake with a different flavour for each – white chocolate and lime, chocolate, vanilla, and a fruitcake. There was something for everyone. Each tier tied into the theme of the wedding with a rustic bark effect, matching edible flowers, and lace. She did a fab job! Odd’s Car Hire provided the beautiful 1920s Rolls Royce Silver Ghost, which was such a joy to ride in. I used to go on bike rides, which took me past the owner’s house when I was little, and often saw him polishing the wedding cars. I never dreamed I’d arrive in my own wedding in one. REAL WEDDINGS 63
