Your Kent Wedding - Mar/Apr 2020 (Issue 89)
SUMMER Rachel and Alastair said “I do” at St. Helen’s Church, Cliffe and celebrated their nuptials in the heart of the Kentish countryside Images courtesy of Alexa Kelly Photography P eter Andre played a significant part in Rachel and Alastair’s love story, as no sooner had they met at a party, than they were singing a duet of Mysterious Girl on the karaoke! “It wasn’t our singing that attracted us to each other though,” Rachel laughs. Rachel confessed to us that she was actually expecting a proposal to come the entire time the pair were away in Bruges celebrating her 30 th birthday. So, it was slightly torturous of Alastair to leave it until the very last day! She says, “He was hoping to propose on the Bridge of Love in a park around the corner from our self-catering apartment, but he left it so late that the park gates were closed, and he ended up proposing in the kitchen.” Having a church ceremony was something that meant a lot to the couple, so they chose the one in Rachel’s home town, where she was christened, to exchange their vows. The celebrations needed a rustic-vibe, so they were drawn to a characterful barn on a local working farm. “It was a challenge to turn it into a romantic reception venue, but we had a lot of fun decorating it exactly as we wanted it in the week prior to the big day,” the bride says.
