Do what you want! Family and friends will make suggestions but it’s your day, so if you want a glitter bar – go for it. Finally, on the day, make sure you spend time with your new husband. We frequently ended up losing each other, so make time for yourselves and just enjoy it. It’ll be the best day of your life. The speeches were exceptional! One friend did an interactive sketch featuring a surprised groom who was dressed to honour his Yorkshire heritage with a flat cap and a loaf of Hovis. Jack’s speech featured a video from Bugsy Malone with the faces of his family edited over the actors’. It was set to the song So You Wanna Be A Boxer , which he’d re-recorded to include his last name – So You Wanna Be A Stainsby ! We had an open mic session after the wedding breakfast, which started with Jack and I singing Foundations and Mr Blue Sky . Several of our guests had prepared performances in advance, and some got spontaneously involved on the day with their own rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody , as well as a Tenacious D Tribute. This was followed by a playlist Jack had mixed a DJ set in the evening. Our wedding breakfast was a delicious hog roast provided by Spitting Pig. It was served with all the trimmings – potato wedges and salad, with vegan and vegetarian options available. We organised a surprise ice cream van for dessert, and got to serve some to our guests ourselves. Gary from Tonibell was very happy to ring the chimes on request!
