Your Kent Wedding - May/Jun 2019 (Issue 84)
We both knew straight away that we wanted the wedding to be local. St. Mary’s Church is a beautiful village church, ideal as it was close to our reception venue, the home of Tom’s mother. Being a summer wedding, we wanted to create the feel of an English country wedding, with a little alpine twist as a nod to where we met. We hired a stunning petal marquee from Maypole Marquee in Canterbury, a beautiful traditional set-up, which sat perfectly on the lawn. Mum and I handmade all the bunting – 200 metres of it – in coral, yellow and pastel blue. We also made the centrepieces together from driftwood collected from Chesil Beach. I knew how I wanted my bouquet to look from extensive Pinterest research. After showing images to Charlotte at Lotty’s Flowers, she created a beautiful hand-tied bouquet with pale blue hydrangea, peach avalanche roses, pale yellow roses and spray roses in cream and coral, with a little white freesia. We had a custom cake-topper of us snowboarding together, made by the amazing Gemma at Totally Toppers. This was placed atop a fabulous three-tier mountain cake by the wonderful ladies at Mama Feelgoods. 64
