Your Kent Wedding - May/Jun 2019 (Issue 84)

After the ceremony we went to mum’s for sandwiches and tea. It was a perfect opportunity for the family to catch up and relax. Cups of tea were very much appreciated, and the best man did a great job supplying them. Our evening meal was a hog roast with all the trimmings, and we had wedding cake for dessert. The vegetarians and coeliacs among us enjoyed their own burgers and buns, finishing their meals with marshmallows. We decorated the marquee with oversized balloons, jute bunting, jute tablecloths and paper lanterns, all in theme- complementing colours. The table names were a source of much discussion. We wanted the theme to be interesting but not clichéd. We considered varieties of cheese, Pokémon and types of cake, but the films of Dwayne Johnson won out! The idea was to keep the lightheartedness of the day and bring a smile to guests’ faces if they figured out the connection. Our naked cake had three tiers: Black Forest gateau, double chocolate and chocolate peanut. It really was tasty! The baker decorated the cake with fresh white, pink and blue flowers, making sure to match them with pictures of the bouquet. I even decorated a cake knife to match. REAL WEDDINGS 59 
