REAL WEDDINGS 45  “Mark at Lapel in Maidstone was so experienced and really knew his stuff.” The maid-of-honour and bridesmaid wore long grey dresses with coordinating sparkly waistbands. The floating styled worked beautifully with the romantic theme, and the soft grey brought the palette together in the flowers. The bride says, “It was hard to imagine all the pieces together, so I would definitely recommend a mood board or swatches to anyone struggling with the big picture.” TIME TO CELEBRATE It was important for the nearlyweds to find a great live band for the evening, and they managed to do just that at The Kent Wedding Experience, Detling, where GrooveZoo were playing. Jodie explains, “We booked them that day, and it was the best thing we did as they created such a wonderful atmosphere.” The band also brought along Jeff, a classical guitarist who played during the ceremony and the drinks reception, delighting the couple and their loved ones with his renditions of their requests. “We’d waited a long time to get married and had spoken about our plans for so many years. We were ready to say our vows and show our children that mummy and daddy were actually getting married!” – Jodie POETRY IN MOTION Jon’s sister, maid-of-honour Danielle, wrote a poem for the newlyweds and was asked to read it out during the ceremony. “We hadn’t heard it until that day, so it was a lovely surprise,” the bride tells us. “It really meant such a lot to both of us. It was all about our time together bringing us to this point. She amazed us with her words, and we have the poem framed in our front room.” JODIE’S WEDDING WISDOM ❤ Don’t sweat the small stuff. When the day comes, you’ve done all the planning you can do. ❤ If you can’t decide whether to have a videographer, go for it! Pictures are great, but the video captures the real moments in a totally different way. We watch ours all the time. ❤ Take a few moments during the day to soak it all in.
