Your Kent Wedding - September/October 2024 (Issue 116)

During the drinks reception, we had Alex Rimell playing the saxophone. In the evening, we had the DJ and a singer, Michael Cosgrove. It was amazing. I always feared an empty dancefloor, but it was full of everyone dancing and having an amazing time. My maid-of-honour helped make personalised foam glow sticks, which made the dancefloor look amazing! I chose lilac short-sleeve dresses for the bridesmaids. These were flattering and really complemented my dress and the rest of the theme. I felt strangely calm on the day and excited to get to the end of the aisle. My maid-of-honour had made me a beautiful photo album of letters from Alex, family and the bridal party. I think I got all of my tears out of my system the night before the wedding! Alex felt nervous in the morning but excited to get married and enjoy the day we had planned together! I had quite a long veil and just as me and my dad turned to walk down the aisle, when everyone turned around, there was a big gust of wind that wrapped my veil around my dad’s neck! My dad proceeded to make us all laugh again at the end of the aisle when he passed me to Alex, saying, ‘Ere!’ I wore a dress called Kennedy from Sophia Tolli. I tried on lots of dresses at Alta Costura and didn’t actually expect to fall in love with this style. I felt beautiful in it and it really suited the royal but relaxed theme. I accessorised it with a long veil with subtle diamonds and had a belt stitched into the waist. Alex chose a suit from The Kent Wedding Centre. It was important to us that Alex’s son, Harry, had a matching suit to the groomsmen. Alex went for different trousers to stand out from the others, which coordinated with the groomsmen’s waistcoats. We had two musical pieces recorded to make key parts of our day extra special. I walked down the aisle to my favourite song, Superstition by Stevie Wonder, but my dad did a special acoustic cover on the guitar, which he pre-recorded to play as he walked me down the aisle. For our first dance, Alex’s son Harry, who is an avid drummer, pre-recorded a drum track to add to our first dance. The DJ made this extra special by inviting Harry to press the play button. 49 REAL WEDDINGS
