Your Kent Wedding - July/Aug 2024 (Issue 115)

CAPTURE THE MOMENT There are so many photographers out there. How do we choose the right one for us? This is a question that pops up all the time when I’m attending wedding fairs. There are so many photographers these days and as a wedding couple, you have a wider choice. Choosing a photographer is such an important decision to make because your wedding images will be the memories that will last. The experience and knowledge of your photographer should be second to none. They have to know what’s happening throughout the day and have the ability to make guests feel at ease while having fun. It’s easier for you to narrow down your favourite photographers while sitting at home on your phone or desktop and scrolling through websites. Go to wedding fairs and contact your favourites to get a feel for what they are about and their experience and knowledge. The biggest thing is whether they will fit in with you and your family and friends. Your photographer will spend about eight to nine hours with you, so you really want them to be a part of the day and for them to be totally involved and capture the images that you really want. Before making a decision, think about what style you’re looking for – traditional, editorial, documentary, or fine art? Look at the photographer’s style, talk to them and see if they are a good fit for you both. Don’t go too cheap, as you will not get the results that you want! David King www.davidkingphotographer.co.uk www.davidkingphotographer.co.uk JUST FOR US We want a customised service and are thinking of booking a celebrant. How can we make our day more personal? Couples put so much energy and thought into making their days reflective of their love story and their personalities, so it really should start with the most important part of the day – the ceremony! Registrars offer a one-size-fits-all service that everyone has seen before, but it can be so much more special. As a celebrant, I spend time getting to know my couples. Then, when we meet in person a few months before the service, we will start the writing process. There are lots of elements that you can incorporate, like hand-tying ceremonies, sand ceremonies and ring warming. The limit of your service is your imagination. Find a supplier that you get along with and work from there. Talk to a couple of celebrants and find someone who fits your vibe. The right person should be excited to work with you and to tell your story! Danni Mirkovic www.withlovecelebrancy.com PLANNED TO PERFECTION What questions should we ask about a venue before booking? When searching for your venue, sitting down together and writing a list of the key elements that really matter to you is a great place to start. As well as practical things like the number of guests they cater for, consider what ambience you want for your ceremony, what vibe you want for your day, and is outside space important? This will help narrow down what feels right for you as a couple. Before you visit a venue, look for information online. Read reviews and visit the venue’s social media to get an idea of what it’s like. Do the venue’s values align with yours? Our couples are often drawn to the simplicity of our venue and its intimate, back-to-nature vibe. Trust your intuition. Once you visit, you will instantly know if the venue is right for you. Before booking, make sure you know what’s included in the cost of hire. Do you have to book specific suppliers, or can you use your own? How much is the deposit and what are the payment terms? Do you have any suggestions? I would suggest a cake such as spiced ginger or something with a minor alcohol kick, such as a Guinness cake, which is both rich, tasteful and creamy. All the best sensations in one bite. Daisy Mae Douglas www.flourpowerbakery.co.uk www.megandonatiphotography.com 60
