We had a mini-moon in Newquay directly after the wedding, where we did some surfing and bodyboarding. We’ve spent the last few months saving for our main honeymoon in Florida. Our top tip for any couple about to get married is to do plenty of research before setting a budget. We found that our original budget was far too optimistic for what we wanted. That being said, if you’re resourceful enough, you can still have the wedding of your dreams without spending a fortune! Our favourite part of the day was the ceremony performed by Celebrant Kate. It sounds obvious, but it is the most emotional and memorable part. Owen and I put together several playlists, which totalled over 13 hours, so we could chop and change depending on the flow of the day. We also had a bride vs groom DJ battle towards the end of the evening, which was good fun. For those not up for dancing, we also supplied some lawn games. The best man’s speech was the best I’d ever heard. It was hilarious and meaningful, and he delivered it with such confidence. As with all British outdoor events, we were quite concerned about the weather. Luckily, it was sunny all day. We were both so happy to finally be getting married after a seven-year engagement. 50
