Since The Plough and Barn at Leigh already had such gorgeous décor, I didn’t feel like it needed lots of decoration. For the ceremony, we hired a faux flower arch from Colonnade Florist, which looked stunning when the natural sunlight shone through the large window. We then had hanging jam jar arrangements hung off the chairs on the row ends, which doubled up on our tables for the wedding breakfast. One of my favourite personal touches was that our bridesmaid, Jess, made our stunning cake. It was a Victoria sponge with a white chocolate ganache and buttercream. It was without a doubt the best cake that I have ever tasted! We love a pub and The Plough and Barn at Leigh was so unique, with a beautiful barn big enough to cater for the number of guests we were planning for. It had so much character and was perfect for us. You can get married outside in the garden under the gazebo, but we loved the barn so much that we decided from the outset that we wanted our ceremony to take place inside. The catering at The Plough and Barn at Leigh impressed us. Rather than your traditional wedding menus, the venue offered some really different options, all made in-house using local ingredients. Nobody went hungry and we had brilliant feedback from our guests. We kept our tables simple, with scattered white petals and flower jars, and my very talented sister, Laura, handwrote all of the place names. At the end of the night, to save everyone from getting taxis, we organised coaches from Allenby Coach Hire. The staff at The Plough and Barn at Leigh were so accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble, from making sure my grandma was never without a cup of tea to ensuring minimal queues at the bar. They wanted our day to be exactly as we had pictured it, and nothing was too much. 36
