Your Kent Wedding - March/April 2022 (Issue 101)

TURNER CONTEMPORARY 07970 938 887 | www.turnercontemporary.org/venue-hire Turner Contemporary’s distinctive modern architecture makes it one of the most recognisable buildings in Kent. Located on the edge of the harbour it has wide sweeping views across the beach, capturing the famous Margate sunset from the terrace and balcony. The hire spaces are white minimalist rooms with high ceilings, natural concrete floors and huge windows taking in the panoramic seascape. There’s ample scope for embellishment, but very little décor is needed to make your wedding setting stylish and impactful. There’s an outdoor terrace to the side of the main cafe, ideal for drinks receptions. Plus, the wide private balcony overlooking the sea, runs the full length of the venue, allowing guests to take the party outside. Ceremonies witnessed by up to 110 loved ones take place in The Clore Learning Studio facing the window, which provides an incredible view of the scene beyond. The Foyle Rooms too can play host to the “I dos” when the former isn’t available, with a slightly larger capacity of 120. Mainly used for receptions though, the space boasts high ceilings, from which you can suspend hanging floral installations. What’s more, there’s a projector for speech slideshows and walls for decorating with photographs. After the wedding breakfast it can be turned around for evening dancing as guests mingle in the gallery for drinks. The Sunley Gallery is available to you once the gallery has closed to the public and offers beautiful sea views for you and 180 guests to enjoy. Here, the venue team can set up a bar and entertainment as requested. WE LOVE There are often art exhibitions occupying The Clore Learning Studio ceremony space, so its possible to experience the feeling of true immersion in the gallery. www.curiousrosephotography.com www.curiousrosephotography.com THE FERRY HOUSE 01795 510 214 | www.theferryhouse.co.uk/weddings You’ll find The Ferry House wedding venue secreted away beside the waters of the Swale estuary. This 16th-century former inn has been lovingly and carefully restored by the owners while preserving the building’s heritage and country character. The venue’s surroundings are a wild and wonderful blend of country and coastline. From the waterfront, dozens of little fleet rivers have carved their way into the meadows and swaying grasslands to create one of Kent’s most beautiful scenes. All of this coupled with the landscaped wedding garden with towering rose arch and the wild secret orchard make for effortlessly elegant photos. Ceremonies take place in The Oak Barn, which exudes rustic elegance with its high-vaulted ceiling, warm oak tones and a canopy of hops and fairylights. It can host 150 nearest and dearest. Alternatively, if you prefer to say “I do” in the open air, The Oak Gazebo, with space for 200 overlooks the Swale estuary and a picture-perfect scene from the private wedding terrace across the wedding garden. Wedding breakfasts for 70 and evening receptions too can be held in The Oak Barn, or the team can curate a bespoke arrangement moving between the Oak Gazebo and the Event Suite. The latter boasts waterside views and opens onto the private wedding terrace and gardens. Here, you can host 180 loved ones for the wedding breakfast and up to 300 for the evening do. Ideal for any style of nuptials, its equally at home reflecting a laid back elegance as it is a refined rustic vibe. WE LOVE In addition to on-the-day services including a venue host, use of the getting-ready room and the Honeymoon Suite, the venue offers a personal planning service, food-tasting evening and a complimentary first anniversary meal in its AA rosette restaurant. There are also 11 individually-styled guest rooms and five self-catering cottages allowing you and 70 of your guests to stay overnight and enjoy reminiscing about your big day. www.chrisblackledgephotography.co.uk https://mattebbage.com 25 WATERSIDE VENUES
